Guidance and Counseling Room Management to Support the Effectiveness of Counseling Services in Junior High Schools: A Literature Review
Abstract
The management of guidance and counseling (GC) rooms is an important aspect in supporting the effectiveness of counseling services in junior high schools. A comfortable, safe, and private room can create a conducive counseling environment and encourage students’ openness. This study aims to analyze the management of GC rooms in supporting the effectiveness of counseling services and to identify factors that influence the quality of GC services. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method through a review of scientific journals, academic books, educational regulations, and relevant previous studies published during the 2019–2025 period. The data were analyzed using content analysis to identify the relationship between GC room management and the effectiveness of counseling services. The findings indicate that GC room management includes aspects of comfort, privacy, psychological atmosphere, and the availability of supporting facilities. A representative GC room can increase students’ openness and trust, facilitate counseling communication, and support both individual and group counseling services. Conversely, inadequate rooms can hinder the counseling process. Therefore, effective GC room management plays an important role in improving the quality of guidance and counseling services in junior high schools.
